The Northern Pole of Heimr is a vast landmass covered with thick ice. It is inhospitable and apart from a select group of about 20 Shanata tribes that relish the cold as a challenge to overcome and some other tribes of mainly mixed races that have some specific reason for being there the place is completely deserted.
The pole is slightly less hostile to life compare to it's counterpart the Frozen Wastes . This is due to it's slightly milder climate and the fact that it is closer to civilisation.
There have been several attempts by Asgard (and before that the Sindhé and Alzahir kingdoms) to establish permanent or semi-permanent outposts on the continent. All of these expeditions have so far met disaster.
Some desperate Fae and even Elves have been known to travel to the pole to try and conceive children with the spark , even though it has been established that the chance of conceiving a child with the spark is higher in Asgard (where the wavelength of the primordial flow is higher), despite it being more to the south.
