Chapter 1: Truth This information is written within the records of the Lorekeepers of Heimr, "Truth chapter 1: Truth".

Heimr Lorekeepers

This book is written by the Heimr Lorekeepers. The lorekeepers of Heimr are a small neutral faction consistent of mainly Midgardians who make their living recording the events in the world of Heimr. They hand-write books, songs and articles about the different factions in the world of Heimr as well as their conflicts. They have a very strong belief in both neutrality and freedom of information. They write in simple facts, with little or no emotion at all. They posses large libraries full of the history of the world written by the hands of roughly a hundred members of their order. Their high council consists of 5 men or woman who try to create one consistent story out of all the thousands of reports and they call this large story "Truth". Upon discovery of the vortex the Lorekeepers faced a dilemma. "Truth" would not contain the whole truth, but just that of one world. They either needed to change the name of their book and admit that they could not capture the whole truth of existence or mindlessly start exploring the infinite worlds that connect to the vortex. After a week of discussions the council decided that they would send one of their Lorekeepers for every hundred soldiers the factions would send to the vortex. These lorekeepers would only keep track of the happenings around the factions of the Heimr world.

The sacred code of the Lorekeepers

The Lorekeepers keep a sacred code. Bound by their faith, sworn to uphold it, their promise seen trough the eyes of their omniscient god Talor, god of free information.

These are his words: 1. It is impossible for a mortal to not-influence something that you observe. 2. It is impossible for a mortal to not be influenced by something that you observe. 3. It is impossible for a mortal to remain emotionally neutral towards things you observe. 4. It is impossible for a mortal to write as if you had no emotion, moral viewpoint nor Opinion about that what you write.

This code is revised to contain "a mortal of Heimr" instead of just "a mortal", sinds even Talor is only omniscient withing the boundaries of Heimr.

The code: "I as a lorekeeper make this outh under the watchful and many eyes of Talor. I as a lorekeeper shall uphold this code untill my body no longer functions. I as a lorekeeper understand and agree to the teachings of Talor, Omniscient god of free information, keeper of this code. I as a lorekeeper agree to follow the following principles:

1. I will keep the influence I express upon that which I report for "Truth" as low as possible. 2. I will not harm nor help people or animals involved about the events I report for "Truth". 3. I will choose between intervening and reporting for "Truth", I will never do both. 4. I will not report events for "Truth" that influence me, my family or friends directly, apart from the influence derived from observing. 5. I will keep my emotions, moral viewpoints and opinions to myself when writing reports for "Truth". 6. I will write a report about my own mistakes if I make them while writhing for "Truth". 7. I will only write facts witnessed firsthand, copied from other lorekeepers or copied from Asgard AND Utgard lore, not fiction nor speculations, unless not of my hand and specifically noted, as so, in my reports for "Truth". 8. I will defend myself and other lorekeepers when attacked, physically or verbally. 9. I will defend my own and other reports for "truth" when attacked, physically or verbally.

Thus are my binding words. The words of [insert name], the lorekeeper."

The Fools (De narren)

May 55 -2557 A.T.

A new subgroup has been accepted in the Lorekeeper faction. "The Fools"

The Fools bring untrue news and rumors trough humor. They are not substituted to the normal rules of the lorekeepers as long as they give warning in advance and they don't write down their news.

Currently there are only two lorekeepers in this group: -Hilde Ponder - Rank 1. -Sinur Ponder - Trainee.

Festival of truth A festival to worship Talor, Truth and sometimes, the lorekeepers themselves. The library is open for a discount. A book can be bought with all the important happenings of last year. Children often dress as owlbears and are allowed to write (most of them just draw) on the walls of the city with white powder. Real owlbears gather in Ul Targash and perform "The dance of many words" high above the city streets. Lying on this day invokes the wrath of Talor (or so, people say). In addition this is a day to come clear about what you really feel about other people. Everyone tells everyone, one thing that the like/dislike about each other. "You always smell when you get home from work, I wish you washed up before you hugged me." "I have a feeling that you are deliberately holding me back, I wish you gave me higher responsibility's. I can handle it!" "Yes, that dress makes you look fat." "You know. We have grown apart and I only keep visiting you because I feel guilty otherwise. We should just call our friendship a day." These are phrases that could be heard that day, and the festival of truth gives people the willpower to state these things. But also: "You know. I have always really like you. I think I am attracted to you, would you go out with me?" "Mother/father, I now see the meaning of the lessons you thought me as a child." "The way you give your profession meaning is both professional and refreshing, great job."

places -Lorekeepers University: So you want to join the Lorekeepers? You better come her with a lot of cash, training lorekeepers is not cheap. But I think lorekeepers are discussed enough already. "You come seeking truth? Go to the Library. You like seeking truth? Than welcome."

-The monastery of Truth The place were all the Lorekeepers sleep, eat, and study. Not much of interest for non-Lorekeepers. The high council also resigns and holds meeting here.

-The library of Truth This place is much more interesting. It holds "Truth". This library is filled with the writings of Lorekeepers. For a price, every little happening and every drop of information known to mankind can be called upon. The place is filled with librarians who search for information requested by the customers.

-The cave of truth Just north of the city, under the hill with the portal is the cave of truth. It is a massive cave structure that can be entered from the north-east, trough a small hole in the side of the hill. The cave houses the true words of Talor, inscribed on the walls, faintly glowing. The words have been copied into truth and describe the creation of the gods, the world, the races, and all other important events that happen before the Lorekeepers started their holy order. The cave is guarded by 2 lorekeepers, and several trustworthy people from the High guard.

History

After the opening of the monastery of Truth, an angel of Talor spoke to the old Regan in a dream and told him were the first lorekeepers could find there Talor's holy writings, and the history of the gods. Regan however kept this a secret to the Lorekeepers and started selling bits of information to them. The Lorekeepers found out after a few years and had Regan tortured and executed. The old man broke before he died and told the Lorekeepers that they could find the writings under the hills north of Ul Targash. In Truth, this was all a test, designed by Talor, who knew that Regan would keep the secrets to himself, and now knew the Lorekeepers were worthy of his name.

Ranks

Rank 0: Apprentice.

The Apprentice lorekeeper has not yet sworn the oath and still needs to prove himself by performing Library duty, cleaning duty, and helping there masters. Every Apprentice is linked to a lorekeeper of at least rank 3. Apprentices are not allowed to write for truth.

Rank 1: The field lorekeeper.

The field Lorekeeper has sworn the lorekeeper oath and is send on missions to increase his writhing skills and standing. A field lorekeeper is not allowed to request anything from the high council. Audience with the high council is automatically declined. A field lorekeeper is not allowed to request mission transfer.

Rank 2: The adept field lorekeeper

The adept field lorekeeper rank is achieved if 1 of the following requirements are met: -The lorekeeper is a priest of Talor. -The lorekeeper works for the library of Truth for 2 years. -The lorekeeper writes 20 story's for the library of Truth. -The lorekeeper is a rank 2 mage. -The lorekeeper is a rank 2 priest. -The lorekeeper is promoted manually by a lorekeeper of rank 4 or a high council member. An adapt field lorekeeper is not allowed to request anything form the high council. Audience with the high council is normally declined. A adept field lorekeeper can request one mission transfer, but is not allowed to freelance or come up with missions of his own device.

Rank 3: The expert field lorekeeper.

The expert field lorekeeper rank is achieved if 3 of the following requirements are met: -The lorekeeper is a priest of Talor. -The lorekeeper works for the library of Truth for 3 years. -The lorekeeper writes 30 story's for the library of Truth. -The lorekeeper is a rank 2 mage. -The lorekeeper is a rank 2 priest. -The lorekeeper protect the life of a fellow lorekeeper in mortal, otherwise lethal, combat. -The lorekeeper has written a article that has sold over 10% of copy's to the local city population of any major city in Midgard. -The lorekeeper has a fault ratio that is below 2% (rounded up, so a lorekeeper must have never written a mistake in Truth. Or he is allowed 1 mistake if he has written over 50 articles.) -The lorekeeper is promted for promotion manually by a lorekeeper of rank 4.

The expert field lorekeeper rank is achieved if 1 of the following requirements are met: -The lorekeeper is promoted manually by a high council member or an owlbear.

An rank 3 lorekeeper is allowed audience with the high council. A rank 3 lorekeeper can request transfer from the current mission freely. A rank 3 lorekeeper may suggest his or her own missions. A rank 3 lorekeeper is allowed vacations of his or her own design. A rank 3 lorekeeper is allowed to have a servant in his or her quarters. A rank 3 lorekeeper is allowed his or her own owl, raven or dove, supplied by the high council, if this is requested. A rank 3 lorekeeper is allowed to sleep in the upper quarters of the monestary of Truth. A rank 3 lorekeeper is allowed access to any section of the Library of Truth free of charge. A rank 3 lorekeeper no longer need permission from the local guard to read the military or any other restricted area within the library of truth. This still needs payment though.

Rank 4: The champion field lorekeeper

The champion field lorekeeper rank is achieved if 3 of the following requirements are met: -The lorekeeper works for the library of Truth for 10 years. -The lorekeeper writes 100 story's for the library of Truth. -The lorekeeper has written a article that has sold over 20% of copy's to the local city population of any mayor city in Midgard. -The lorekeeper has a fault ratio that is below 1% (rounded up, so a lorekeeper must have never written a mistake in Truth. Or he is allowed 1 mistake if he has written over 100 articles.) -The lorekeeper is prompted for promotion manually by a High council member. -The lorekeeper has visited and written about the Vortex at leasts 3 times (this rule has been instated recently to promote vortex expedition. It has had no effect as of yet.) -The lorekeeper has sacrificed an important part of himself to uphold the oath.

The champion field lorekeeper rank is achieved if 1 of the following requirements are met: -The lorekeeper is promoted manually by an owlbear.

A rank 4 lorekeeper is allowed audience with the high council and is never declined. A rank 4 lorekeeper can request transfer from the current mission freely and is allowed to decline missions. A rank 4 lorekeeper may suggest his or her own missions and is never declined unless by the high council themselves. A rank 4 lorekeeper is allowed vacations of his or her own design, this still adds up to "employment" time. A rank 4 lorekeeper is allowed to have two servant in his or her quarters. A rank 4 lorekeeper is allowed an additional owl, raven or dove, supplied by the high council, if this is requested. A rank 4 lorekeeper is allowed to sleep in the upper quarters of the monestary of Truth and has a room with a balcony. A rank 4 lorekeeper is allowed access to any section of the Library of Truth free of charge, even the restricted and military area's. A rank 4 lorekeeper has free access to priest services free of charge. A rank 4 lorekeeper is allowed to give missions to lower ranked lorekeepers, unless they are given a mission by the high council or a rank 5 lorekeeper.

Rank 5: The high field lorekeeper

The high field lorekeeper rank is achieved if all the following has been met: -The lorekeeper works for the library of Truth for 15 years. -The lorekeeper writes 150 story's for the library of Truth. -The lorekeeper has written a article that has sold over 25% of copy's to the local city population of any mayor city in Midgard. -The lorekeeper has a fault ratio that is below 1% (rounded up, so a lorekeeper must have never written a mistake in Truth. Or he is allowed 1 mistake if he has written over 100 articles.) -The lorekeeper is prompted for promotion manually by a High council member. -The lorekeeper has visited and written about the Vortex at leasts 1 time (this rule has been instated recently to promote vortex expedition. It has had no effect as of yet.) -The lorekeeper has sacrificed an important part of himself to uphold the oath.

The high field lorekeeper rank is achieved if 3 of the following has been met: -The lorekeeper works for the library of Truth for 25 years. -The lorekeeper writes 250 story's for the library of Truth. -The lorekeeper has written a article that has sold over 30% of copy's to the local city population of any mayor city in Midgard. -The lorekeeper has a fault ratio that is 0% (only 3 lorekeeper to this date have achieved this.) -The lorekeeper is prompted for promotion manually by a Owlbear -The lorekeeper has visited and written about the Vortex at leasts 4 times (this rule has been instated recently to promote vortex expedition. It has had no effect as of yet.) -The lorekeeper has sacrificed an important part of himself to uphold the oath.

Appart from all this a lorekeeper may never achieve the rank of high field lorekeeper if he: -ever broke the oath. -has a fault rating higher than 5% -has worked for Truth less than 15 years. -has written less than 150 articles. -has not yet achieved rank 4. -is dead. (there have been situations in wich lorekeepers where promoted post-mortem) -has never been past the borders of Midgard and written about those lands. (this is very rare.)

A rank 5 lorekeeper is allowed audience with the high council and is never declined, and no longer needs to write their requests in advance. A rank 5 lorekeeper is no longer given missions. A rank 5 lorekeeper may suggest his or her own missions and is never declined. A rank 5 lorekeeper is allowed vacations of his or her own design, this still adds up to "employment" time and is often even payed. A rank 5 lorekeeper is allowed to have three servant in his or her quarters and his room is cleaned if he so requests. One of these servants may be a prostitute of any race. A rank 5 lorekeeper is allowed an additional owl, raven or dove, supplied by the high council, if this is requested, this makes a total of 3. A rank 5 lorekeeper is allowed to sleep in the upper quarters of the monestary of Truth and has a room with a balcony and an bathroom of his own. A rank 5 lorekeeper is allowed access to any section of the Library of Truth free of charge, even the restricted and military area's. He is even allowed into the sections that still need to be officially added to truth. He is also allowed to review and change these without clearance. A rank 5 lorekeeper has free access to the high lorekeeper evening meal and forum. A rank 5 lorekeeper has free access to rank 2 priest services free of charge. A rank 5 lorekeeper has free access to mage services free of charge. A rank 5 lorekeeper is allowed to give missions to lower ranked lorekeepers, unless they are given a mission by the high council. A rank 5 lorekeeper is allowed to request protection from a rank 1 mercenary free of charge as long as he resides on Heimr. (this rule has been recently amended to include the Vortex.) A rank 5 lorekeeper is granted a steed upon request.

Content of "truth"

Chapter 1: Truth. -Explains why/how/and by who Truth is written. Also explains in length the culture, founding, history, rules and regulations of the Lorekeepers.

Chapter 2: Heimr. -Explains the three kingdoms, their culture and relationships. Explains the lay of the land, rivers, mountains, and digs deep into the History of nations. Also contains many maps.

Chapter 3: people. -Is simply a very large list of people, their names, profession, date of birth, children, parents. etc. The more important the person is, the more is written about that person. Also contains the information about the different intelligence races of Heimr, minus the gods, demons and angels.

Chapter 4: Divine. -Explains the gods, demons and angels. Different religios practices, cults, demon worshiping, divine rituals, churches, and housings of divine artifacts. Angels, mostly owlbears, have written many parts of this chapter.

Chapter 5: Arcane. -Explains how magic works, what is known about magic, different guild, arcane rituals, housing of arcane artifacts (including of course, the portal)

Chapter 6: Animals. -Explains the Animal world of Heimr. All species are documented here. Their mating rituals, their life cycles, their usefulness, intelligence, danger level etc. Important or famous animals are discussed in length her.

Chapter 7: Plants. -Explains the herbs, plants and trees of Heimr. Their uses, their value, their dangers. Important trees are discussed here, unless they are trees toughed by the gods, those can be found in chapter 4.

Chapter 8: Science. - This chapter is only 1300 years old and is the first new chapter in truth. (He wasn't their in the original make-up of 7 chapters.) It discusses philosophy, psychology, alchemy Mathematica, engineering and physics.

Chapter 9: Art. - The second of the new chapters. It contains, fictional story's, poets, drawings, etc. Every form of art that can be caught on paper.

Chapter 10: The Vortex. - The newest addition to "Truth". This contains everything the Midgardians and the lorekeepers know about this "place behind the portal", and everything that happens there that is relevant for Heimr.

Appendix 1: Archive of Untruth - Things that were once part of truth, but were proven false.

Appendix 2: Lost truth - A list of things the lorekeepers don't know yet, or don't know any longer, but are important enough to be put in truth.

Appendix 3: New truth - scrolls that still need processing and checking before becoming part of truth.
