Noble and graceful, the Elves are among the oldest races on Heimr. Deeply spiritual and in tune with nature, they often look down on other, less developed civilizations.

Physical Traits

Elfs look very similar to their Fae counterparts in many ways, although they are often more slender and feature smaller ears. Their limbs are long and fair, their movements graceful and controlled. Even though their slender physique, they are as strong as any men. Their hair is often long and lush, shining with vitality.

Facial hair is uncommon within the higher castes of Fae en Elf society.

General

Lizardmen are probably the most unique sentient species in Heimr. They are the only species that is cold blooded and they are the only species who sheds their own skin. Lizardmen live in warmest regions on Heimr. and can most commonly be found on the islands surrounding the continent.

Most of the other species are only vaguely aware of their existence. And even fewer Heimerians have ever seen one. Lizardmen care little for what happens outside their communities. This is mostly due to their cold blooded nature. Their main concerns in life is to stay warm.

Heimr and the joined worlds of The Vortex all share the same High Fantasy setting.

Mankind is not the dominant species, having to share the realms with Elves, Fae, Orcs, Trolls and various other creatures. Magic, though mysterious and erratic, is commonplace, as wizards and mages roam the lands. Ancient Gods? infuse their worshippers with holy powers and pious saints perform grand rituals? to ward themselves from the evils that threaten mortal life.

A fanquirl is a small parasite bird that latches itself onto creatures that travel the desert of Heimr. They have huge tails that function like fans to keep their host cool, all the while sucking energy trough their skin.

Beasts often crush these parasites by bashing their skin against a rock or tree. However, now that evolution made sure the birds help the host by cooling them down the wise creatures gladly give up a bit of energy to keep themselves cooler during their travel trough the desert.

The fanquirl has a wingspan of only 4 centimetres.

The difference between wild humans and normal humans is that wild humans still live in tribes instead of being citizens of a state or kingom. These tribes migrated from the plains of Midgard into the wild forests or mountains of Midgard or into the neighbouring wild patches of land outside Midgard. Like the desert, jungle, plains or swamp regions contested over by Asgardian and Utgardian armies.

The difference between wild gnomes and normal gnomes is that wild gnomes still live in tribes instead of being citizens of a state or kingdom. These tribes migrated from the rivers of Midgard into the wild forests or mountains of Midgard or into the neighbouring wild patches of land outside Midgard.
