Tellurian
General
Physiology
Tellurians are humanoids with dark grey skin, with long hair and featuring rocky protrusions. Their avarage length is about ten centimetres more then that of humans.
The tellurian race has three genders, called a "producer", a "fertillizer" and a "breeder". Of these three, the producer tend to be the rarest, whereas the breeders tend to be the most numerous. The producer tends to be the most long-lived of the three genders, living to about 375 years. The fertilizer and breeder both age to about 125 years.
Reproduction
Tellurians are unique among Heimr's races in that their method of reproduction more closely resembles that of ants instead of mammals. Tellurian producers grow egg-like objects on their body. These eggs are fertilized by the Tellurian fertilizers. They bite off one of the eggs from the producer, then fertilize it using a gland at the back of their throat.
Once fertilized, the egg is placed near the producer and will hatch in about a week. The larva coming out of this egg is then put into the breeding pouch of a tellurian breeder where it will grow for nearly a year, after which it emerges from the pouch as a juvenile tellurian.
Juvenile tellurians are small versions of their adult counterparts but with completely smooth skin and without any hair. They are able to make sounds, see, hear and walk without needing to be thaught. Juvenile tellurians tend to quickly learn how to speak. The actual aging process takes quite a long while, however.
Social Structure
Tellurians are mostly divided into clans. Each clan is founded by a producer, wh.o is called clan mother If a producer is born while the current producer is still healthy, it will form a new clan when reaching maturity. The producer is guarded and taken care of by a personal guard of fertilizers. These are the most skilled warriors of the clan, because the clan mother is the most important member of the clan.
While the clan mother is the most important member of the clan, normal day to day business and decision making is taken care of by the clan elders. These direct the clan's efforts and make sure the tasks carried out by the other clan members, The other members of the clan, which are breeders, fertilizers and maturing producers, are divided into groups that take care of a certain task. These tasks include the breeders that are carrying a larva, those that take care of those breeding, soldiers and all manner of other tasks.
The task division in no way indicate the status of the members of the clan. The only clan members with a higher status are the producer and her personal guard and the clan elders. The others simply undertake whatever task they are capable of doing.
On the average, tellurian clans consist of approximately one hundred tellurians. Of these, about 15 form the clan mother's personal guard. The eldest ten form the circle of elders. Clans tends to keep close to each other and form colonies. The entire colony contributes to the place they are living in, creating massive cities containing several thousands of clans, meaning hundreds of thousands of tellurians.
Each clan specializes in one specific thing. For example, there are clans specializing in weapons craft, there are clans specializing in high-mountain farming and many others. The clan's status does not so much depend on their status as it depends on how well they perform the task they specialized in. The clans are respected for their contribution to the colony and better performing clans are thus due more respect. The only exception to this is the approxximately fifty still existing founding clans. These clans form the highest ruling bodies of the colony, having nearly four thousand years worth of experience.
History
It is said that Gataur had such love for the element Earth that, when he created his race, he took this element, moulded it into a humanoid shape and gave it life. While the precise details of the creation of the Tellurians is uncertain, they do have a distinct connection to the element earth, as can been seen from their rocky skin. The Tellurians were the first race to be created by Gatuar. As such, they have existed as long as the Fae, Orcs, Humans and Merfolk.
Earliest records of the Tellurians themselves indicate that the region where now their capital city is located was also the region the first Tellurians woke up.
