The Uplands

'The Uplands lay north-west and are graced with the Enchanted Forests, most ancient of all the Asgardian realms. Upon its tangled groves ancient glamours lie and under its leaves creatures of great mystery still walk. The region is ruled from the city of Darthoridan, capital of magic and written knowledge. Fall lies eternally on The Uplands' enchanted glades. Beneath the seemingly beautiful leafy surroundings, disembodied whispers and strange visions can visit those foolish enough to leave the ancient paths; curious phenomena that are caused by the high amount of magic lingering in these parts. By night, fae lights flicker in the darkness, drifting from tree to tree, illuminating them in eerie ghost-light.

The largest bodies of fresh water within the Kingdom originate in The Uplands, being the enormous Lake Moher and the mighty Deryth and Ygraine rivers. Lake Moher houses the largest ship-wharfs and dry-docks for both commercial ships and military vessels of the Royal Asgardian Navy.

The river Deryth forms an important trading route, splitting itself several times and reaching many of Asgards larger settlements and reaching all the way to the North and Western shores. It is by this way that the ships constructed in Lake Moher find their way to the other lands of Asgard.

The official capital of the Uplands is Darthoridan, though the city tends to keep to itself.

Asgard

The Region known as Asgard is considered first among the provinces. Majestic snow-capped peaks tower over sweeping flower-strewn plains and wild forests. A land of gentle summers and mild winters, where herds of stags thunder across the grasslands. Touched by beneficial magic, the forests burst with life, housing some of Heimr's strangest creatures. Also, as the cradle of Fae, Elf and Feariekind, it is here where the Seelie Court, Royal Throne and capital Dearaldia are situated amid the unspoiled wilderness.

The northern mountains provide the Kingdom with its constant demand for raw materials, such as marble, granite, iron, silver, gold and other substance who are carved from the dark depths. Busy supply routes run criss-cross to and from the larger cities, ever guarded by regiments of Asgards standing army. The Twin Princes, North of the region, used to be the fiercest of all Northern volcanoes. Now silent, these gift miners with a steady supply of iron, silver and coal.

Caer

The isles of the North suffered the most during the Civil Wars. Once, cataclysmic forces were unleashed that drowned the land and shattered the northern part of the continent. The remaining islands are tortured and twisted places, blasted by mutation and death, and near lifeless. Such life that does survive is cruel and hardened. Monsters, stirred from the lightless ocean depths, sometimes come ashore here in search of prey. Icy and uninviting, these remote areas are home to the more feral of Elf tribes. It's pine forests are home to magnificent beats, and the population are generally hunter or fisher by trade.

Though the most other Elf and Fea look down upon their Northern brethren, it is from these parts that the largest amounts of fresh fish are delivered.

The Eastern Gardens

The Eastern Gardens is a large coastal region, inhabited by shrewd and hardy seafolk. Their graceful vessels plough the turbulent Eastern waters in search of food and trade. This is a highly dangerous area to sail, not just because of the perilous waters, but because the seas are said to contain many monstrous creatures. To survive such waters, the sailors of Asgard must possess great skill, and the Elves and Fae that crew the light sea craft are considered some of the finest in the world. Toughened from decades of warfare against foreign raiders, they excel in naval combat, and their nimble boats make deadly warships in times of need. It is not strange that many Navy personnel are drafted from this region.

Enormous white peaked mountains lie at the most inland part of this region, most notable the Central Peak. It is said that this mighty giant can be seen all the way from Utgard. Under its shadow lie thousands of acres of farmland that provide nearly a third of all the food needed by the combined realms of Asgard.

The Western Gardens

The mainland of the Western Gardens lies along the western coast of Asgard, but the realm also encompasses the small islands of the Western Gulf. The shoreline is a wild area, fringed by deep coniferous forests. The foothills of the Western Barrier march off into distant peaks that tower dramatically into the clouds. To the Elves and Fae from other realms, the Western Gardens is often considered rural, al bleak coastal realm with hundreds of acres of inland farm-ground. But to those who call it their home the towering cliffs, soaring sea birds and lush fields are sights as fine as any to be seen in the whole Kingdom.

Gengar Marsh

In the old days the lands of Gengar were relatively empty, occupied only by those who sought to escape the more civilized realms and return to nature. Now it exists in a state of constant war. The Marsh is one of the main routes through which Utgard seeks access to the inner lands. Troops constantly move through en route to war against would-be invaders. As the war has gone on, the swamp-like lowlands have been fortified. The locals are great hunters and scouts, adept at guerilla warfare and skilled with bow and axe.

The hunters of Gengar maintain a constant watch on the roads through their land, and they are swift to act in any raiders are sighted. Runners are dispatched to summon reinforcements while the Asgardian regiments are mustered to hold back the enemy.

The Asgardian Waste

This dark and desolate region was once part of a mighty Fae kingdom. After the Civil War, however, what remains of these lands was treated with fear and distrust, and is now known as the Asgardian Waste. It is uninhabited but for wanderers and beasts. It's sole city, Darallian, was never rebuild after its destruction, its ruined streets and buildings reflecting nothing of the glory it once knew.
